What is HDTV?

Traditional standard definition TV pictures are broadcast at a size of 720 x 576 pixels, or picture elements, but high-definition pictures are sent at up to 1920 x 1080 pixels. The number of picture elements transmitted per second is five times greater; and more pixels means better picture quality.

HDTV pictures have greatly increased clarity and detail, and far more vivid colours, which explains the fascination of HDTV images viewed on large, high-quality flat-panel displays, or home-cinema projectors.

With a compatible home cinema system you will also be able to enjoy more channels featuring Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
