Since the launch of the web site www.satellite.lv thousands of Latvians have visited the website, which contains a lot of information about digital distribution, different digital distribution forms and the opportunities about satellite TV.

The web site was launched in July and the objective is to inform the people in Latvia about the different digital distribution forms that are available now when Europe is switching to digital TV. A Questions and Answers section helps the visitors to get answers to the questions that may arise during the switch-over phase. The site also contains general information about satellite history, satellite applications etc.

“The implementation of digital TV in Latvia is now facing the final stage. Latvia, as well as all EU countries, shall have switched from analogue to digital TV by year 2012 according to the EU recommendations. During the last months there have been wide discussions about the implementation process, but for the inhabitants and tv viewers, information about the opportunities with the new standard has not been clear. In this digital transition process it is very important that the viewers are well-informed and understand what digital TV actually means. They should know what they can expect from the implementation, the different options they have and what they need to get it”, says Anna-Karin Modigh, Vice President, Marketing and Communications of SES SIRIUS AB.
