SES ASTRA To Distribute ASTRA2CONNECT Through Yato

German telecommunications provider to sell broadband internet over satellite

Betzdorf (Luxembourg), 19 October 2007 – SES ASTRA, an SES company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) has signed its third large framework contract to market its high speed internet access product ASTRA2Connect to German end consumers in Germany. The new distribution partner Yato will use ASTRA2Connect to offer its clients triple-play services via satellite. The other contracts for the roll-out of ASTRA2Connect in Germany were signed with the telecommunications providers Filiago (www.filiago.de) and STARDSL (www.stardsl.de). ASTRA2Connect is also marketed in Austria, Switzerland and Ireland.

The telecommunications provider Yato, based in Zug (Switzerland), specialises in the Europe-wide distribution of broadband, telecommunications and digital media services via satellite. CEO is Elmar Hülsmann, the former deputy chairman of the German telecommunication provider Arcor.

ASTRA2Connect is a fully satellite-based solution for broadband access that delivers dual- and triple-play services to end consumers without any terrestrial support. This innovative service offers a unique possibility for regions without terrestrial broadband access to use high-speed internet. Seven German trade magazines who tested ASTRA2Connect recommended the new service as a “fast and intelligent connection to the internet” that is “comparable to DSL” and offers an “attractive satellite-based broadband solution for all those who live in the broadband deserts of Germany or Europe.”

"With this Yato contract, the ramping up of the ASTRA2Connect service and subscriber base continues successfully," said Alexander Oudendijk, Chief Commercial Officer of SES ASTRA. “ASTRA2Connect offers consumers a highly-attractive solution to access high-speed internet in regions where terrestrial services are not available. We are also continuing to discuss with marketing partners in other countries in order to maximize the reach of this new service and continue the successful roll-out.”
