TV PULS CONTRACTS ANALOGUE ASTRA TRANSPONDER
Polish TV channel free-to-air on ASTRA 19.2° East in analogue and digital
Société Européenne des Satellites S.A. (Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SES; Frankfurt Exchange: SDSL), announces that Telewizja Familijna S.A. (TF S.A.) has contracted an analogue transponder on the ASTRA Satellite System at 19.2° East for the free-to-air distribution of TV PULS throughout Europe.
With the free-to-air transmission in analogue on ASTRA 19.2° East, as well as the existing digital feed, millions of Polish speaking viewers throughout Europe can receive this attractive new Polish channel. The ASTRA analogue feed of TV PULS will be launched on June 1st, 2001 (Transponder Nr. 51; 10.74375 GHZ; H-Polarization).
Comments Piotr Pacholski, Member of the Board of Directors of Telewizja Familijna: "Advertising financed TV channels need to maximize their technical reach. As TV PULS' existing terrestrial coverage is rather small, we are also targeting cable networks and satellite audiences. Signing with SES/ASTRA allows us to reach just that aim. More than a half of all TV households in Poland already receive television via cable or satellite, with the biggest increase in the last few years coming from the satellite sector which now reaches 23 % of Polish homes. We believe that this contract with SES, the DTH leader in Europe, to add TV PULS to the attractive line-up of analogue free-to-air TV services on ASTRA, will allow us to enhance our market position in Poland and Europe".
States Yves Elsen, Commercial and Marketing Director of SES: "We are delighted that TV PULS is joining the free-to-air analogue programme line-up on ASTRA 19.2° East which already includes 46 channels. The launch of this analogue TV PULS service will be a welcome and attractive addition for Polish audiences right across Europe."
