Independent audit institutions approve SES market research
The SES Satellite Monitor has now been awarded quality stamps by independent audit institutions in three major markets: France, Germany and the UK.
In France, the Year End 1999 Satellite Monitor of Institut Français de Démoscopie was the subject of a comprehensive independent evaluation by CESP (Centre d'Étude des Supports de Publicité). The CESP is the French joint industry committee for media audience measurement in France. In March 2000 the Scientific Committee of CESP published the audit report giving approval to the methodology and findings of the survey.
In the UK, the Year End 1999 Satellite Monitor conducted by Continental Research was submitted to the IPA Appraisals Committee (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising). In March 2000 the Committee gave official approval to the survey methodology. The IPA is an association representing the interests of the UK advertising industry.
In Germany, the survey methodology of the Satellite Monitor of Infratest Burke has been approved by the "ZAW" (Zentralverband der deutschen Werbewirtschaft) since 1997. ZAW is an association representing the interests of the German advertising industry. The "ZAW-Rahmenschema" acknowledges the high quality of the study design and methodology guaranteeing data users the reliability of the published data.
Begun in 1989, the SES Monitor provides a unique service to the industry. This is the only continuous pan-European measure of the development of satellite TV. Using harmonized methodology, leading market research institutes undertake surveys twice a year across 22 different European countries.
Says Thomas Merz, Market Information Manager at Société Européenne des Satellites: "We are delighted that the significant effort SES is making in surveying the European media markets is endorsed by independent research authorities. These audits underline the credibility and the reliability of the findings."
