ASTRA Group reaches more than 50 million satellite homes

  • The ASTRA Group consolidated its position as the top European satellite fleet for DTH reception, reaching 50.3 million satellite homes in Europe and North Africa.
  • These homes are served via the four orbital positions of the ASTRA Group satellite fleet:
    - 38.9 million* homes receive programming exclusively from ASTRA`s main orbital position at 19.2°E.
    - At 28.2°E, 9.6 million homes in the UK & Ireland are receiving services from ASTRA.
    - Another 700,000 homes are served by satellites at 23.5°E, ASTRA`s new orbital position for DTH reception in Europe.
    - The SIRIUS satellites at 5.0°E reach a further 1.9 million satellite homes.
  • Another 66.9 million homes are served indirectly by ASTRA or SIRIUS through cable headends.
* Some 800,000 homes receive their programming both from ASTRA at 19.2°E and SIRIUS at 5.0°E.

  • ASTRA Group DTH/SMATV growth in 2007 was driven by digital satellite reception.
  • The ASTRA Group satellites are serving 41.1 million digital satellite homes, of which 29.8 million* exclusively at 19.2°E, 9.6 million at 28.2°E, 0.7 million at 23.5°E and 1.9 million at 5.0°E.
  • 9.1 million ASTRA homes still receive exclusively analogue signals via 19.2°E. 80% of these homes are in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
  • 3.5 million homes receive both analogue and digital services from ASTRA.
