Spread spectrum In-Orbit Testing (IOT)
Spread spectrum modems and associated techniques are available to perform frequency and amplitude response measurements of transponders while in commercial operations.
These techniques are extremely useful in difficult frequency slot environments, such as within commercial operations neighbourhoods, where interference with neighboring satellites is an issue.
Applications features:
- Frequency response - amplitude and group delay
- Measurements on occupied transponder: on-air payload signal without degradation
- Frequency translation and translation frequency stability (long term, doppler compensated)
- Travelling Wave Tube Amplifier (TWTA) operating point
- Small signal suppression for determination of non-linear amplifier
- Measurement of transfer curve drift
- Intermodulation and cross-polarisation discrimination
The techniques carry an ASTRA patent.
