Combined mission success

The concept of hosted payloads gives governments, institutions or other public organizations the opportunity to place their own specially designed payload, i.e. transponders or other communications technology, on a commercial satellite that is scheduled for launch by SES for other business purposes.

While each mission is unique, we are an experienced partner. Agreements in place include a navigation service payload for the European Commission (EGNOS) and an infrared payload for the U.S. Air Force (CHIRP).

These solutions allow shorter planning and implementation cycles. They also offer government customers lower costs because the bus, the launch and many operations services are already planned into the original commercial project.

The SES conveyor belt includes a number of satellites in various stages of planning. Some satellites are scheduled for service from orbital locations that may serve for government payloads as well.
