The European Commission has made broadband access for every citizen a top priority. Viviane Reding, EU Commissioner for the Information Society & Media stated: “Broadband connections are a pre-requisite for eBusiness, growth and jobs throughout the economy. Broadband at controllable cost

End users in rural areas have little choice but to use PSTN or ISDN in order to access the internet. This typically means a payment plan per on-line minute and therefore little control of internet related expenditures. With ASTRA2Connect the user has an always-on broadband internet access service and can stay on-line as long as desired for a fixed monthly fee.
