ASTRA2Connect is a full service that includes satellite capacity, uplink (including operations), platform (facilities and operations), internet backbone, 2nd level helpdesk and the interface for end-user registration, activation and monitoring.

Subscriber equipment

  • Satellite dish (typically 75-80 cm with receive/transmit i-LNB)

Internet access details

  • Maximum download speed 2 Mbit/s (Ku-Band 10.70GHz to 12.75 GHz)
  • Maximum upload speed 128 kbit/s (Ku-Band 14.00GHz to 14.50 GHz)
  • Performance optimisation through Fair Usage Policy
  • Performance enhancing proxy (RFC 3135)
  • TCP enhancement for satellite transmission (i.e. acceleration and HTTP pre-fetching at server and subscriber end)
  • Two-way satellite link encryption
  • Selective content compression

Internet telephony

  • VoIP traffic delivered from the ASTRA hub to your VoIP platform (termination fee to PSTN network not included)
  • Flat rate VoIP telephony charging requirements: QoS management for VoIP packets, G.723 and G729A codecs, call admission control and silent suppression
