SES AMERICOM Names Chief Technical Officer
Alan Young to Lead Technology Advancements, IT & Spectrum DevelopmentSeptember 1, 2005 -- Princeton, NJ –SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL Company (Paris Euronext and Luxembourg Stock Exchanges: SESG), announced that Alan Young has been appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer. In this role, Young will report to Ed Horowitz, AMERICOM’s President and CEO, and will serve on the company’s management committee. Young will be responsible for the company’s technology strategy and investments supporting next generation applications and services, information systems and services, and spectrum and orbital slot development.
Young has extensive R&D, telecommunications, engineering and technology experience gained in diverse business environments, from financial services to media and entertainment. His background includes executive technology assignments leading emerging technology development, information security services and strategic vendor partnerships for Citigroup. Prior to his seven years with Citigroup, Young was the Vice President of Engineering for Viacom’s MTV Networks responsible for the technical aspects of their global satellite distribution including the transition from analog to digital. Before Viacom, Young spent three years in various technical assignments with British Telecom. A fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, and a two-time patent holder, Young was awarded a Masters in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of York, United Kingdom.
