Robert Bednarek named Executive Vice President Corporate Development of SES GLOBAL
Robert Bednarek has been appointed Executive Vice President Corporate Development of SES GLOBAL, the new group management company which now holds 100% of SES ASTRA and SES AMERICOM as well as a number of strategic investments in established regional satellite operators in Europe, Asia and Latin America (see separate announcement). Robert Bednarek will report directly to Romain Bausch, President and CEO of SES GLOBAL, and be a member of the Executive Committee of SES GLOBAL.
Robert Bednarek joins SES GLOBAL as of January 2002 from satellite operator PanAmSat, where, in his position as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer since 1997, he was responsible for the overall operation of the company's satellite fleet and associated terrestrial facilities. Robert was also responsible for the identification, design, development and marketing of enhanced products and services particularly in the digital video and Internet realms. Robert Bednarek has been with PanAmSat since 1990 and served as senior executive for engineering and operations beginning with the construction and the launch of that company's first satellite.

Prior to joining PanAmSat (1984-1990), Robert was the co-founder and partner of a Washington DC based technology-consulting firm specializing in technical regulatory matters pending before the Federal Communications Commission, the International Telecommunications Union and other regulatory Agencies. From 1979 to 1984 he served as deputy chief scientist for the US Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) where he managed the research, development and application of new telecommunications and information technologies.
Robert Bednarek, a US citizen aged 44, holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, specialty in communications theory and mathematical analysis, from the University of Florida and several US Patents involving GPS (Global Positioning Systems).
