Innovation has always been an integral part of ASTRA’s philosophy. From launching Europe’s first medium-power DTH satellite to inventing the often-copied system of co-positioning satellites, we have helped reshape satellite economics by successfully introducing and implementing new ideas.

Our innovative spirit continues to enhance performance levels with new products and services such as two-way satellite connectivity for mobile phones and broadband, an industry standard to simplify domestic satellite installations, and an LNB that can simultaneously receive signals from two ASTRA orbital positions.

Innovation - an ASTRA watchword

Innovation will always emerge when preparation meets opportunity. We’re already developing the ideas that will generate tomorrow’s innovation headlines. Current projects include TV transmission to mobile phones, and IPTV.

The ASTRA Innovation contest allows us to harness and reward the best ideas from manufacturers, universities and research laboratories around the world. The contest was launched in 2006 and looks for innovative concepts that improve the features and consumer attractiveness of DTH satellite reception.
